The New Ampitheater at Coney Island Will Host Maxwell, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Others

The newest Brooklyn concert venue, which opens for business to the public on April 15, will host a slew of R&B and hip hop artists including Maxwell, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.
The 5,000 seat venue has been in the works since 2006 and renovated a space where a restaurant 
long stood vacant. After years of negotiations and some community push-back, the venue is now finally set to open this June. Coming this week, tickets will go on sale for the ampitheater’s inaugural season, which will lead off with Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse and Ed Robinson on June 25 and will host Erykah Badu on August 3 and Jill Scott on August 14 among other artists. A concert by Brooklyn native Maxwell also is performing on Saturday, July 9.
Tickets for this Maxwell show go on public sale April 22 at 10am.
Live Nation will serve as promoter and booking agent for the venue. Legends will handle food and beverage concessions. Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE), the company which helps run Barclays Center, will oversee sponsorship sales.
