Garcia-Thurman Fight Is Set For Brooklyn And On Sale January 18
January 14, 2017
Tickets go on public sale January 18 for this March 4th 147-pound unification bout between Philadelphia’s Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman.
After the March 4 fight date was announced late in 2016, this Premier Boxing Champions match-up finally is set officially for Barclays Center, with tickets going on public sale Wednesday at 10am ET.
The undefeated Garcia, who has been criticized for facing weaker opponents, had a tune-up this past November in his native North Philadelphia with an easy victory against Samuel Vargas at Liacouras Center. In the ring after the bout, Garcia and Thurman – who had watched this fight from ringside – hyped up this rumble with a little face-to-face shouting match.
Garcia stands 5-0 while fighting in Barclays Center, most recently winning a controversial decision there against Lamont Peterson in 2015. Thurman, a native of Clearwater, Florida, is also no stranger to Barclays Center, having defeated Shawn Porter there in 2016. This match-up is a natural fit, for both boxers are managed by Al Haymon. Lots are at stake for the winner who will possibly enjoy a more lucrative Pay-Per-View future.
