Czarface —- Every Hero Needs A Villain
Trust me, this isn’t me being biased. If you don’t already know, my AOTP brother’s 7L and Esoteric linked up with the legendary Inspectah Deck and created Czarface. This is their second installment and it’s ridiculous. Between ES and INS it’s a parade of bars, after bars, and more bars. The metaphors, the cadence, the wordplay, the beats, everything. These albums they do are so well put together and are a wake up call for emcees putting minimal substance behind their records, Everything they have done, from the action figures to the comic books, has been amazing. Salute these men when you see them. Check out “Lumberjack Match” here —-> https://youtu.be/jKwJuzbzKuM

Sheek Louch – Silverback Gorilla 2
The criminally underrated Sheek Louch has done it again. He has never disappointed with any of his albums. For some reason he gets overlooked. I personally believe he has the best catalog of the 3 (The Lox). This album is one of his best. His beat selection is always on point, and his energy keeps you on his page. His hooks are always catchy and his rhymes are just some street, boom-bap shit. He’s not the super duper lyrical type but he respects hip hop and knows his lane. He does it very well every time.He has legends such as Fabolous, Ghostfacd Killah, Billy Danze, and Pusha T on here. It’s tough to stay relevant and consistent in this game. Got to give props where props are due. Check out “Bang Bang’ feat Pusha T https://youtu.be/Hjs2N5MOclc

Meek Mill – Dreams Worth More Than Money
I know, I know, everybody hates Meek. I get it. He had an awful year. I get it. He lost to Drake. This is true BUT he made a dope ass album and Drake made a shitty mixtape with Future. I know for a FACT all I care about is the music when it’s all said and done. This album has never left my rotation. Now, maybe I’m biased cause he’s a Philly guy, but this album is my shit! Even the commercial joints go hard in my opinion. Meek’s energy is unmatched, and his beats get me ready for World War III. No more no less. Beats, rhymes and Philly — a perfect combination. Check out his new video “The Trillest” here https://youtu.be/OOJZAE6vovw

The Game – Documentary 2/2.5
Now this is kind of cheating ’cause there’s 2 albums here. Both I feel are equal. The Game is so nice with the bars, the flow, the content is crazy. He don’t give a damn what he says! I was happy he came back as good as he started ’cause he wasn’t this strong for a bit. Plus he has “El Chapo” which is like the hardest song of the year! haha check that jawn out here – https://youtu.be/RviOwY0OKyE

Jedi Mind Tricks – The Thief and the Fallen
Shout out to my brother’s in arms, Vinnie Paz, and Stoupe. Biased? NO. This was the return of a friendship which in turn became the return of what every one was missing in a JMT album: Stoupe! Obviously not taking away from Paz, but as JMT you need both. This album is flawless. Production is Stoupe, so need I explain? Mix in the brother Scott Stallone, and you can’t go wrong. Paz showed his ass on the rhymes, changing flows. We aren’t used to hearing him do and nailing all of them. Great hooks, a dynamite single and collab with Dialated and more. They proved their importance to hip hop and proved them two is all you need. A great job and hats off if any of you two retards are reading : -) … Check out the video for their single “Fraudulent Cloth” here https://youtu.be/xnXtY5_djjI

Nipsey Hussle – Mailbox Money
I slept on Nipsey FOREVER and I’m not sure why. Also, this releasing on NYE 2014 I’m still considering it 2015. Songs like “Killa,” “Between Us,” and “A Hunnit a Show” go stupid hard. This album set my year off for me and got me through a lot of long nights. Gotta respect Nipsey’s grind and quality of music. Say what you will but he deserves this spot. Jadakiss – Top 5 Dead or Alive
Performing live at TLA in Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday, February 23 at 8pm | Buy Tickets
At first I said this album was Jada and his usual sub-par effort of making a solid album top to bottom. I didn’t like him having all the features with that album title. I let it grow on me. I started to get it the more and more I listened to it. Jada is so nasty it’s unreal. His verses are like instruments. They become part of the beat. That was my favorite thing about B.I.G. — they become a melody somehow. End of the day all the features did their thing. Songs like “Synergy” with Styles P are always needed on a Jada album. Those two together are perfect. I’m glad he kept that part of his formula, then “Rain” with Nas is self explanatory. Thank God for Jada , right? ahaaaaaaaaaaaa! Peep “Man In The Mirror” here (no feature) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGnqFla1zXs

Pusha T- Darkest Before Dawn
Performing live at Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, March 25 at 8pm | Buy Tickets
Performing live at Playstation Theater in New York, N.Y. on Saturday, March 26 at 8pm | Buy Tickets
KING PUSH! He’s the best rapper right now. Not hearing any one outdoing him at this point. He slaughters everything. Dude is super nice, and as I said in the beginning of this, he helped bring Sigel back to the mix. Sigel demolished “Keep Dealing” on the album. Push is one of those rappers where you catch a line and start punching the table and shit haha. He does it so discreet too. This album put the cherry on top for 2015. As long as Push is around the bar is set,. Peep his video, “Crutches, Crosses , Caskets” here –> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crCFDQyfORM

Scarface – Deeply Rooted
Performing live at TLA in Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday, March 22 at 8:30pm | Buy Tickets
FACEMOBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB! Gotta give the OG a round of applause. Gotta respect a vet still shining and making classics. This album is something these young punks gotta study. This is rap at it’s finest. Substance, quality, lyrics, stories, beats, and everything else that makes a great album. If you don’t bang with Face, we can’t be friends. This the OG. Respect this man when you see him. period. Do the knowledge, and that’s it! Best song of the year by FAR is “God” featuring John Legend peep it here and take your hat off out of respect little chump. —> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kc74jq2QHk

Yelawolf – Love Story
When I began this I asked myself, what album did you listen to the most? This was definitely #1 in my rotation for the year and even still in 2016. Yelawolf gave us his all, and he created a masterpiece. It’s different than everything else on this list, but that’s the beauty of hip-hop. There’s no boundaries. There’s no limits to what you can do, say or create. If you’re hip-hop, what you make is hip-hop. Hip-Hop is a way of life. Through his struggles with selling records under the Shady umbrella, he did what he felt was best: Himself. He really went all the way in his personal bag and took everything out and showed it to the world. Please give this the chance it deserves, if you don’t like it, fine, just give it the chance. It’s different but it’s incredible. In my opinion of course. So hard to pick a favorite song so I’m giving you this one —> “American You” —-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8MratH51eY
