Dahday's Picks For Hottest MLB Games Post-All Star Game Edition
July 14, 2015
It’s the dead of summer. Both New York teams are in the heat of the pennant race. The All-Star break is upon us.
So now you’re itching to see a ballgame, right?
Still lots of great options to a see a game live this season. Here are some ideas:
Sunday, July 19 at 1pm: NY Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
C.C. Sabathia has struggled and Carlos Beltran ain’t 2006 Carlos Beltran – but the Bronx Bombers are still in it, thanks in part to Alex Rodriguez. This coming weekend, the Yankees face Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners. Despite an off-season for Cano and his new club, it’s always great to see the former Yankee in the Bronx. Sunday afternoon game also provides the first 18,000 fans a 2000 World Series Fan Ring.
Friday, July 24 at 7:10pm: NY Mets vs. LA Dodgers at Citi Field, Flushing, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
Baseball fans in Queens can truly chant “Let’s Go Mets!” and mean it this summer. Fighting for a chance to make the playoffs, this game will be a great test for the club. Yasiel Puig and the NY Dodgers visit Citi Field this July weekend. The series leads off with a free t-shirt for fans who attend this Friday night game. If you miss Puig and Company in New York…
Thursday, August 6 at 1:05pm: Philadelphia Phillies vs. LA Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA | Buy Tickets
…head down I-95 to Philly and see the Phillies host the NL West-leading Dodgers. The Phillies are, um, not so good this year but that means this Thursday afternoon game will provide great ticket value and all kids 14 and under can run the bases after the game.
Saturday, August 15 at 7:10pm: NY Mets vs. Pittsburgh Pirates at Citi Field, Flushing, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
If you only pick one ballgame to attend the rest of the summer, this one is it. Possibly the best team in the National League — the exciting Pittsburgh Pirates featuring Andrew McCutchen — take on the hometown Mets. Not only would the Pirates have to try to pull off a road win against Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom or one of the other Mets’ young arms, all ticket holders can stick around after the game to enjoy a post-game concert starring NE-YO. A great ballgame and a hot show for one ticket price! Good deal here.
Wednesday, August 26 at 1:05pm: NY Yankees vs. Houston Astros at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
Love the day games! Take a day off from work and soak in the sun and fun at the ballpark. The Yankees will host the upstart Houston Astros, featuring stars Jose Altuve and the young phenom Carlos Correa. The 20-year-old Correa is so good he reminds some of A-ROD. Kids in attendance also receive a free poster at this ballgame.
Sunday, September 20 at 1:05pm: NY Mets vs. NY Yankees at Citi Field, Flushing, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
The Subway Series always excites New York City. Bragging rights are at stake in households throughout the region. But what if this series settles the difference between winning and losing a playoff spot? A Yankees or Mets post-season appearance could very well come down to how they perform head-to-head in September. At Sunday’s game, fans can get a free Matt Harvey fathead with admission.
Wednesday, September 30 at 7:05pm: NY Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
Even if the Red Sox are out of it, the rivalry still means something. The Yankees might need this ballgame to punch their post-season ticket. And if things fall into place, BOTH teams could be playing for their playoff lives. Either way, fighting it what these teams do.
Should be fun.
