Futból fans already have a full slate of matches to enjoy and news to consume. They know Neymar will be teammates with Lionel Messi for years to come, Leicester City FC sits atop the Barclays Premier League table and Cristiano Ronaldo continues to wow fans around the world.
On top of the world goings on in the sport, the MLS season starts up this weekend with New York/New Jersey’s clubs NYC FC and New York Red Bulls and the Philadelphia Union all kicking off their home schedules this month.
In addition, international sides will visit this summer to entertain area soccer fans. To get ready for soccer’s best local action, here are Dahday’s picks for hottest soccer matches taking place this season:
Gotham’s Derby
In Its second season, NYC FC has brought not only soccer to Yankee Stadium but a New York/New Jersey rivalry that the clubs can build on for generations to come. You have three chances to see this cross-river matchup – May 21 and July 3 in the Bronx and July 24 in Harrison, N.J.
¡Que Viva Los Latinos!
Brazilian legend Kaka and his Orlando FC side visit the Red Bulls on Sunday, April 24 and NYC FC for Hispanic Heritage Night on Sunday, May 29, which will be televised on ESPN. The Philadelphia Union host Orlando on Friday, April 8.

All The Stars in This Soccer Galaxy
The L.A. Galaxy’s star-studded roster including Giovani dos Santos, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane visit Yankee Stadium for a national TV march on Saturday afternoon, August 20 and play the Philadelphia Union on May 11.
La Copa De La Vida
MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia each are to host three matches of Copa America Centenario.
Philadelphia will host the Uruguay vs. Venezuela match on June 9, the United States vs. Paraguay match on June 11 and the Chile vs. Panama match on June 14.Venue passes, which include a seat to all three matches, are on sale now.
East Rutherford, N.J. will host the Ecuador vs. Haiti group stage match on June 12, a quarterfinal match on June 17 and the finals match on June 26. Venue passes, which include both the June 12 and 17 matches, are on sale now.
Buyers of Venue passes enter the lottery for the finals, which have yet to go on sale.
