Danny Garcia To Fight Shawn Porter, Likely In Brooklyn on August 25
May 26, 2018
Philadelphia’s Danny Garcia is set to fight Shawn Porter at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 25, according to reports.
Garcia and Porter agreed to terms on May 25 to fight for the vacant WBC welterweight title, likely on August 25 at Barclays Center (the arena does not have anything publically scheduled on that date yet). Since the date is not officially schedule by the arena, ticket sale information has yet to be announced.
Both fighters of course are no strangers to the Brooklyn arena. Garcia has fought there six times before, including most recently in a loss to Keith Thurman in 2017. Porter also lost to Thurman in a Premier Boxing Champions fight at Barclays Center in 2016. With Errol Spence, Jr. leading the way in this division, with boxing star Terence Crawford now seeking to fight in this 147 ln. weight class and the title-tested Thurman still in the mix, this fight could help the winner try to once again demand a higher profile championship bout against the elite titlists.
Stay tuned for ticket information once it is officially announced. If you would look to buy tickets, fill out this form.
